A cardinal principle of Total Quality escapes a lot of managers: you cannot continuously improve interdependent systems and procedures until you progressively perfect interdependent, interpersonal relationships.
Do not let your ego get too close to your situation, to ensure that in case your position gets shot down, your ego doesn't opt for it.

I left the full comment under the roadkill photo of connectivity. Woops.

Hi,

You're a friend of Michele Mika Ku. and Yuki. I live in Grass Valley and the fun fact about the orange lichens you saw is that they will dye fiber pink under one condition and blue with a change of being set in the sun to oxidize. In both cases the sample is dyed in the jar with the lichen using half ammonia and half or more water. Don't seal too tight and forget to air it every day for a minute, my friend's jar exploded!

I ran into some mink on the Truckee River, California side about ten years ago, one so used to people he almost talked to me to ask for my fish (trout on the ground). I hope they are still there and doing well. Where is the salt water area they are found in? I'm guessing near Eureka or points north of SF Bay Area where I live. I am guessing trapping pressure has been reduced. Does California have stable populations of mink stil? I'm not a trapper, believe me, but a retired teacher. Jan

Hi Daniel. Ben told me about your blog, and it's been wonderful to look and read through it. Your photos and descriptions are rich in beauty and they rivet attention, like a meditation. Thank you! And I agree about John Muir. He's a national hero.

Hi Daniel..... thanks for posting about John Muir -- he is definitely one of the most inspirational people I have read about. Oh, to have followed him around the mountains (if I could keep up) would have been awesome!
